How to reach Rome

Arrival by plane

The city of Rome is easy to reach.

Rome is within reach-in fact, it’s less than a three-hour flight from most European cities.

It is served by 2 airports.

Rome’s international airport is called Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport. It is situated in the southern part of the city and is approximately one hour drive from the Congress Venue (https://www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en)

In addition to Leonardo Da Vinci International Airport, Rome has a second airport, C.B. Pastine (CIA) Airport, which is an important arrival point especially for charter and cargo flights and special events.

Leonardo da Vinci Airport is 26km from Rome and the quickest way to reach central Rome is the shuttle train, the Leonardo Express, which leaves every 30 minutes for the main station, Stazione Termini. The journey lasts about half an hour and costs 14€.

From there, it is possible to reach any point in the city thanks to the extensive public transport network. The terminus is right outside the station and it is connected to the two underground lines, A and B.

Also inside the airport train station is the local train FR1, which stops at Trastevere, Ostiense and Tiburtina Stations. The cost is 5,50€.

At night there is a coach service from Fiumicino to Tiburtina station.

Ciampino Airport is about 20km from the city; it is connected to Trenitalia train station Roma Termini by Cotral/Schiaffini blue buses.

Tickets can be bought onboard and cost 5€.

The Sit bus shuttle line (https://www.sitbusshuttle.com/) also connects the airport to Termini station at a cost of 7€.

Terravision offers a city transfer service for those arriving with Ryanair, Easyjet, Hapag Lloyd Express, Wizz Air, Blue Air and Central Wings. Tickets cost 6€

They can be bought at the stands in front of the airport arrival area as well as directly from Terravision.

The Comune di Roma (Rome Council) has set up a fixed tariff for taxis from Fiumicino and Ciampino Airports to inside the city walls. The tariff is from 40€ to 60€ from Fiumicino and 30€ from Ciampino (maximum 4 people with baggage included in the tariff).

The number to call for a taxi is +39 06 0609 or https://www.ciampino-airport.info/taxi-transfers.html

Arrival by train

Rome has an important railway link (Stazione Termini) connected with the rest of Italy and with Europe by high-speed trains

The main stations in Rome are Stazione Termini (Piazza dei Cinquecento) and Stazione Tiburtina (Piazza della Stazione Tiburtina). Both stations are connected to the network by the underground and many buses in all directions leave from outside the stations. For information on times and ticket prices we advise you to connect the railway company site Trenitalia, where you can also buy tickets on-line and pick them up on the train itself.

How to reach the Symposium Venue

The venue is less than 20 minutes walking distance from RomaTermini rail Station and a few minutes’ walking distance from the metro stations of “Cavour” and “Colosseo” (Blue line B).
